Peyto Lake

Ahh Peyto… famous for its turquoise colour. It’s been photographed millions of times before (see note at bottom of post) but I still like to drop in and enjoy the view. Go there in the summer and you’ll be circling to find a parking spot and be shoulder to shoulder with tour bus tourists. Go there at the end of October, like I just did, with snow covering the lookout platform and you’ll more than likely have the whole place to yourself. I did. What a super experience to stand on the edge of the lookout all alone and enjoy the view…

Peyto may have been photographed millions of times before but nobody in my opinion has done it better than Daryl Benson. Daryl is an incredible photographer who lives here in Edmonton. You’ll find his take on Peyto on his website. It’s image No.1 in the Landscape Gallery. It’s different. It’s fresh. It’s gorgeous and he didn’t even show Peyto in all its turquoise majesty!
